Our Story

Hello, my name is Travis. I'm a foodie, an entrepreneur, a dreamer, and a believer that anything is possible in this country if you simply put your mind to it! So this is the story of how I came to be in the spice business.

My father once had a restaurant in a small town in the northeastern corner of Colorado. Fresh and consistent herbs and spices were hard to come by, so he teamed up with some folks to create 7 seasoning blends from 7 great regions of the world: French, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Indian, Greek, and of course, American. Little did he know at the time but he was creating something that will one day feed the masses. It wasn't just about creating regional blends; he wanted to create something that was healthy too. By making the blends all-natural, gluten free and even kosher, he knew it would be something everybody would enjoy. As he worked to perfect the blends, he tested them with all kinds of foods: meats, fish, vegetables, grains, rice, beans, eggs, pasta – you name it. If you could cook it or eat it, he probably tried spicing it up. After many years of success using the seasoning blends at his restaurant it came time for him to retire and move on in life away from the demanding work of restaurants. He decided to pass the torch. Luckily I was the one next in line to keep the fire burning.

One day I had invited a girl over for dinner. The only problem was that I was supposed to do the cooking and I had no clue how. Sure, I could cook eggs, grilled cheese, and microwave with the best of them. But to cook dinner for a girl? No way. Slightly freaking out since I didn't really know what to cook, I called my father and asked him what I should do. “Roast a chicken," he said. “Go to your local butcher and see if you can find a fresh, all-natural, whole chicken for roasting. Hit your local farmers market and buy some carrots, onions, parsnips, and a lemon. Pick up some rice, as well as a fresh baguette, maybe some lettuce too. Call me when you get home." So off I went. Returning home an hour later, I give him a call. “Okay pops, now what?" “Turn your oven to 500 degrees. Grab a roasting pan or baking dish. Slice the onion and cut the carrots and parsnips in half and about 3 inches long. Rinse off the chicken then pat it dry. Rub with olive oil and grab French Made Easy – one of the spices I sent you. Rub the bird all over with the seasoning blend and sprinkle some on the inside too. Cut the lemon in half and put it inside the chicken. Put all the veggies as well as the chicken in the pan and throw that bird in the oven and cook it for about 45 minutes or so."

That is exactly what I did. He suggested I try the Mediterranean blend in the rice. “1 cup rice, 2 cups water and 1 teaspoon of Mediterranean Magic," he said. “Read the directions on the rice package and just do what it says." 2 hours later, my date was going great. She couldn't believe I had cooked the dinner – but I did – 100% of it. She pretty much licked her plate clean. That's when the light bulb went on: “the true way to a woman's heart is through food!" (Just a little update - that "girl" is now my wife!)

I started using the seasoning blends on a regular basis, cooking dinners for anyone that wanted to come over to eat. To my surprise, I was instantly becoming a pretty good cook. Seriously - if you could ask any of my friends, they would tell you how much they love to come to my house because there is always good food being cooked. But it truly wasn't me - it was the seasoning blends. A pinch here, a pinch there - I was learning how to cook!

All of this is what got me here today: selling my spices to all of you. Everyone started to ask for the spices - they wanted to cook good food too, and were tired of the same old stuff. Like most small businesses in America, I decided to start selling the products so many people were requesting!
 So here we are...and from here I hope to help each and everyone of you have as much fun cooking as I do. No, you don't have to go to culinary school to impress your friends and family. All you need to do is buy my seasoning blends, follow my recipes and learn how to have fun using them any way your great mind can think of. Put down the salt and pepper, decide where in the world you'd like to dine tonight, go pick up some fresh ingredients from your local producers, call over some friends, and enjoy your newly found love of cooking healthy food.
